A Healthy Vagina Is A Happy Vagina: Naomi Wolf, On Sex.

By Ksenia Sobchak

Naomi Wolf is an American author, feminist and former political consultant. She’s voiced opinions on major social issues including abortion, pornography and Julian Assange – and she’s well respected and equally feared in many intellectual circles. She has written award-winning books on womanhood and motherhood, and she’s just launched a brand new book titled Vagina: a New Biography.

One guess what it’s about.

In the book she writes about what makes a happy vagina, and how sexually pleasing a woman can lead to mental, emotional and physical happiness. For every woman, Wolf argues, her vagina is a gateway to her own happiness as it is directly linked to the spinal column and brain through neural impulses.

The science is there: there is evidence to link the vagina to the brain, and also between the “happiness” or satisfaction of the vagina to the happiness of the woman. A brilliant knee-buckling orgasm will send a barrage of feel-good chemicals up to the brain which will make the woman “want to create, explore, communicate and transcend.”

Wolf engaged in her research when she underwent treatment for a spinal compression that was affecting the intensity of her orgasms. After probing and questioning, she soon learnt that the spinal column injury she was suffering from was directly diminishing her orgasms, and that there was a clear and distinct neural link between the spine and the vagina. In addition, she also learnt that beyond the clitoris, the vagina features multiple nerve sites that send neural stimuli to the brain. A healthy, stimulated and satisfied vagina is a happy vagina – which makes you happy, too.

In her book, Wolf identifies the female need to have successful penetrative sex to stimulate creativity and the desire to grow and create. She identifies the bond between sexual satisfaction and emotional happiness, and explains how mainstream gestures of love and affection such as a gift of flowers and chocolates, or cuddling, can directly affect the happiness of the vagina: the organ that beats with its own pulse, and controls the feelings of happiness and satisfaction in every woman.

Wolf’s book is available to buy online and explains how the science backs up the experience, and how what we know about female sexuality is out of date. She argues that women need to Reclaim the Goddess to be satisfied and happy – even outside of the bedroom – and that there is a hugely emotional aspect to sex, not only a physical one.

The bottom line? More good sex, more often. We like it!
