Choosing the Best Dildo

By Ekaterina Mironova

With there being such a large level of dildos to choose from, how do you know which dildo to go for? As with any adult toy, before making your purchase you should think about the size of your budget, how big or small you would like your dildo to be, the width of the dildo, your preferred colour, the material that it's made out of, whether it has a suction cup base or not and whether you would like it to be compatible with a harness.

Price

The amount that you're willing to pay for an item, regardless of what it is, is normally one of the top considerations when it comes to purchasing goods. At Peaches and Screams, we have dildos (also known as dongs) available from less than £8 all the way up to £90. Regardless of the amount that you have to spend, it's a good idea to use either the price filter on the left-hand-side menu on every product page, or to order the products by Low-High or High-Low from the drop down menu just above the product listings. Using either method will give you a good idea of exactly what is available in your price range.

Size and Shape

Once you've set a price limit, you need to decide what you want the size and shape of the dildo to be. Our collection of dildos ranges in size from 4.5 inches up to a mighty 16 inches in length, and from 1.25 inches up to 2.75 inches in diameter. Our dildos consist of anal dildos, jelly dildos, the ever popular black dildos, big dongs, double dildos, glass dildos, realistic dongs, silicone dildos, squirting dongs and suction cup dildos. We have dongs that are designed to look (and sometimes feel) like the real thing, dildos with curved ends (for g-spot stimulation), those that can be used for anal or vaginal stimulation or those that come with suction cup bases for hands free action. You can also choose dildos with or without ball sacs.

Materials and Colour

The main materials that dildos are manufactured from are jelly rubber, glass, hard plastic, soft coated plastic and silicone. Jelly dildos, some of which can be used anally, are perfect for beginners because they have a soft and flexible consistency. They are usually the most inexpensive type of dong available. Glass dildos, on the other hand, are some of the most expensive dildos that you can purchase. This is due to the fact that they are hand crafted, designed to withstand up to 3000lb worth of pressure, are intended to last a lifetime, and can be heated or cooled providing you with even more sensations. Contrary to popular myth, they will not shatter whilst you're using them. Soft coated and hard plastic dildos are another relatively inexpensive purchase. Silicone dildos, like glass, are designed to last. Usually more expensive that jelly and plastic variations, silicone dongs are hypoallergenic and anti-allergenic as well as being odourless and tasteless which can often be an advantage over some of the cheaper variations. Our collection of dildos comes in a comprehensive selection of colours.

What Function Do You Want Your Dildo to Serve?

In addition to the size, price, material and colour, is there anything else that you want from your dildo? You may think that sounds like a silly question but you can also choose dildos that squirt, those that come with a suction cup base and those that are fully harness compatible. Squirting dildos such as the Squirting Realistic Cock can be filled with water or a fluid or your choice to give a more realistic feeling to your sex toy play. These dildos can also be refilled so that you can use them as many times as you like. Suction cup dildos can be mounted to almost any smooth, flat surface including walls, floors and chairs so that your hands are free to roam elsewhere while you enjoy the penetration from your dildo. The Tantus range of dildos all come with a flared based making them ideal o-ring and harness compatible dildos thereby transforming them into strap ons.

Cleaning and Lubrication

As with all sex toys, it's always advisable to purchase a good quality lubricant along with your dildo in order to make play with a sex toy far easier and more enjoyable. You should also consider buying an anti-bacterial sex toy cleaner as this will greatly reduce the spread of germs and bacteria and help to extend the life of your adult toy purchase.
