With so many different kinds of vibrator to choose from, how do you know which type is going to be best for you? There are many things to consider including your budget, the size you want your vibrator to be, what you want the vibrator for (internal stimulation, clitoral pleasures or play with a partner), and the shape and colour. Other considerations that you may want to bear in mind are whether the vibrator is battery powered or rechargeable, what materials it's manufactured from and if it's waterproof or not.
The price is usually one of the most important aspects when it comes to buying anything regardless of what the product is. If you have a budget in mind then you should stick to it as it's all too easy to get carried away when purchasing items online. At Peaches and Screams, you can either use the price filter (available on the left-hand-side menu on the product pages) to select the vibrators that are priced at between £0-£10, £10-£20, £20-£30, £30-£50 etc or select Price (Low-High) or Price (High-Low) from the Order Products By drop down menu which is directly about the first product listed. Using either method will give you a better idea of what products fall into your budget.
If you're a beginner to vibrating sex toys, you're probably best to start off with something small and work your way up to bigger toys when you feel ready. Bullet vibrators are a fantastic starting point because they are small (approximately 2 inches in length), quiet and inexpensive; small vibrators measure between 3 and 5 inches in length and are equally as good. If you are more experienced, you might want to try bigger vibrators. Your choice of vibrator is also dependent upon what kind of stimulation you're looking for. For instance, if you're seeking clitoral pleasures, try a bullet vibrator or a clit stimulator. For vaginal stimulation, classic, realistic, big, jelly, smooth, waterproof and small vibrators are ideal. G-spot vibrators are specially shaped to target the g-spot just inside the front of the vaginal wall. Rabbit vibrators and pearl vibrators can simultaneously target both the vagina and the clitoris. If it's a vibrator that you want to use with your partner, it's best to go for a bullet vibrator, a finger vibe, a remote control vibrator or a vibrator set.
Appearance can also be important. A number of vibrators have the option of two or more colours available giving you extra choice. The shape of the vibrator is also something to consider. If you want a vibrator to resemble an erect penis then it's best to choose a realistic vibrator as you will get veining and/or balls thrown in. If you are looking for a straightforward vibrator without ribbing, nodules or veins, classic vibrators and smooth vibrators are simple in design but just as effective. For something discreet, you can get vibrators that are disguised as everyday objects such as the Vibrating Lipstick by Screaming O (priced at £21.99).
The majority of vibrators are battery powered. Peaches and Screams supply batteries will all vibrating sex toys so you don't have to buy batteries in addition unless you want a spare set, in which case they're offered as an optional extra with all vibrating toys (with 10% off the purchase price). The batteries can be easily changed when they run out therefore extending the lifespan of your vibrator. Rechargeable sex toys are also available but are often priced higher than their battery operated counterparts. Due to their superior technology, they are often much quieter than anything powered by batteries. Plus, you get the added benefit of never having to purchase batteries for them.
Vibrators can be made of many different materials including jelly rubber, hard plastic, smooth coated plastic, latex and silicone. Jelly vibrators have a squishy outer texture that protects a firmer inner core. A number of vibrators that are made from plastic come with a velvet coated texture that can feel much smoother to the touch than harder uncoated plastic equivalents. Silicone vibrators (usually made from premium grade medical silicone) are the most luxurious feeling vibrators as not only are they smooth to the touch but they also take the least amount of time to warm up to body temperature. Silicone vibrators are also odourless, taste free and non-porous which makes them easy to keep clean. Some cheaper alternatives such as jelly and latex can sometimes come with their own distinct odour. A number of vibrating sex toys have bendable properties allowing them to be reshaped into almost position.
If you want to be able to use your vibrator in the wet as well as in the dry then there is no point in purchasing one that is designed not to come into contact with water. Before you buy a waterproof vibrator, you should check whether it is fully waterproof (in which case it can be submersed under water in the bath) or whether its splashproof (making it suitable for use in the shower but not under water).
One final point to consider before you buy a vibrator is to think about purchasing a good quality lubricant alongside it. Sexual lubricants are instrumental in helping to make sex toy play and intercourse far easier as their slippery qualities make items slide in much more easily. The majority of lubricants are compatible with sex toys but remember not to use silicone based lubes with silicone sex toys because they react with one another. Use water based lubricants instead. A plus point to silicone lubricants is that they can be used for fun in the shower because they are long lasting and resistant to water.
