In a testosterone-dominated industry, erotica has very little space for adult entertainment aimed at women. Stockholm-born Erika Lust thought that there might be room for a new kind of blue movie one aimed at women. And, she was right.
In an interview with Marie Claire, Lust pointed out the facts that we so often overlook: Like it or not, we live in a porn-saturated society; there's porn all over the Internet, and there's porn in the media. We can't just turn our backs on porn and think it doesn't matter. With this growing problem in mind, and the reality of growing porn industry that many women simply dismiss or ignore, Lust decided to do something about it. She created the kind of porn we want to see.
She founded Lust Cinema in Barcelona with the aim to produce and collect films that are cinema you can share with your couple or friends. It´s sex positive, it´s creative, it´s female friendly. This is the kind of adult entertainment that is exclusively aimed at women. Her films have a storyline, and feature normal women in different shapes and sizes. In the world of Lust Cinema, the woman is the most important player: she is not an object, or a means to an end. She is beautiful, whatever her appearance, and she is sexy.
Lust Cinema offer members a collective of adult films that aren't all about the sex: her film crew also include a make-up artist, a hair dresser and a stylist who all put a strong emphasis on the appearances of the cast - a welcomed change from the existing trend of male-oriented pornography that is focussed on parts of the woman, instead of on the woman as a person! Yes, there's still plenty of hanky panky happening on camera, but it's tastefully filmed and arousing without having an offensive story line or second-rate actresses.
Erika Lust is a woman with a vision; and she's determined to overthrow the pornography industry's preconceptions about what is - and what isn't - sexually attractive. With two new films added each month, Lust Cinema offers women and couples a tasteful alternative to the testosterone-fuelled films on the market.
