Sex In the Quarantine-Age

Have you ever had sex in quarantine? It is the most enjoyable activity when you have nothing to do. Herein is about sex in quarantine including; the impacts of pandemic during sex, benefits of sex during quarantine, and using quarantine time.

Intimacy is part of being human. People will always feel the need to connect with others sexually. These past years, however, the world has been shaken by the pandemic; things like isolation, lockdown, wearing masks, and social distancing have become the norm. This might disrupt the way people do things. How can people keep their sex life going? How can you use this time to better our relationships and intimacy? The world has been battling a common enemy, the coronavirus disease pandemic. This period has introduced us to a norm of quarantine, social distancing, and masks. People may have changed the way they interact with others or handle situations. Some things are constant. Laundry, bills, family, children, and sex will always be there despite the pandemic, whether dating or single. People have to satisfy their sexual needs. This article will discuss sex during the quarantine age; how has the pandemic influenced sex life? How can best people use this time for sex life and relationships?

Impact of the Pandemic On Sex Life

Due to restrictions on movement, social distancing, and isolation sex life has impacted those living solo or cohabiting with their partners. Lehmiller et al. (2021) showed that sex activities have reduced on average. However, the pandemic has had a positive impact on sexual behavior. Participants from the study reported engagement in mutual masturbation, view of pornography, and oral sex. New additions in the sex life of those living alone included having cyber-sex, filming oneself masturbating, sharing nudes, and sexting. Those living with partners reported trying new positions and acting on sexual fantasies. These new additions were a way of coping with the pandemic.

Benefits of sex during the pandemic

Sex and Immunity

Although not to a large degree, sex can affect how our immunity system fights infections and diseases in our bodies, including the Covid-19 virus. In addition to being a source of pleasure during the time people spend time during the pandemic, sex can help battle the virus. Haake et al. (2004) indicated the rising in white blood cells or the number of men after they orgasmed. The study above also showed an increasingly significant amount of leukocytes particularly natural killer cells. These leukocytes or also known as white blood cells help in fighting virus causing diseases in our body. The findings from the study revealed that components of the natural immune system are triggered by arousal through sex and orgasm. Precautions should be taken however if we are to come into contact with a person that has been exposed to the virus.

Sex In Quarantine Time Can Help People Sleep Better

Due to the pandemic, many workers have been forced to work from home. Dealing with family, kids, and news about the pandemic can be stressful and cause anxiety. Chen (2016) stated that sex and orgasms lead to an increased level of hormones like oxytocin and the production of prolactin, making one feel drowsy and sleep. Sex in quarantine time can help people sleep better.

Sex Can Help Relieve Stress.

Some people have sex when stressed, while others avoid it. Sex helps the mind and body relax leading to sleep. Men usually sleep after sex since the body works out and relaxes after.

Sex Is A Way Of Exercising

Energy is used during sex. The movement of our bodies and muscles is a way of exercising our bodies while getting pleasure. Sex is a way of exercise without much hustle. Chen et al.(2009) concluded that engaging in sexual activity is one of the human physiological functions contributing to physical health, like taking a walk or other daily activities. The focus should be on encouraging people to have a physically active life and not on abstaining from sexual activity.

Use Of Quarantine Time

More Sex With a Partner

People can use the opportunity created by the pandemic to have more sex. Use the quarantine to rekindle your flame with the benefits of sex. Relationships can get boring with time, and sex becomes a routine. Use this time to find new ways to have an exciting relationship and sex life. Sex does not have to be boring anymore; this is a better time to try out a new style or make yourself have slow sensual, uninterrupted sex.

However, if one partner is infected with the virus, sex has to happen, and couples can use positions that do not require face-to-face contact. There are various options: reverse cowgirl, doggy, collapsed doggy, spooning, and different variations. People who do not have sexual partners can watch porn movies and masturbate for sensational stimulation.

Time to masturbate

Quarantined alone at home means lots of free time. You can use the time to learn something new and catch up with friends and family. You can learn about sex stimulations and how to achieve them. There has never been a good time to explore your sexual fantasies like the quarantine age. Masturbation can work for a single person. Order a sex toy online, take a bath, relax and start the journey of self-pleasure. Masturbation can help you in similar ways sex can. It is a way to relax, relieve tension and help you sleep better. Couples forced to spend time together can also use this time to try other ways of pleasuring themselves if sex becomes boring.

Conclusion

Time and situation have changed since the pandemic, and people are accustomed to social distancing and quarantine as ways of curbing the spread of the virus. The level of stress and anxiety can go up because of uncertainties. Spending more time indoors can affect us negatively but also is an opportunity to better our sex life and find creative ways to adapt. Sex can become a routine for long-time couples, but quarantine time is a chance to work on it. Sex proves to have an impact on partners’ physical and mental health. Masturbation and self-pleasure are advised as a safe option for anyone, single or alone, during quarantine. The pandemic has put to a halt a lot of things, but sex does not have to be one of them.
