Sex with Mirrors Voyeurism in the Bedroom

By Elena Ognivtseva

In sex advice columns, there are often letters from guilt ridden people who admit that they have fantasized about other people with closed eyes while they get off with their long time lovers. While fantasy is a big (and important) part of sex, it does not necessarily have to involve imagining yourself with someone else. Some couples discover the erotic potential of installing mirrors in their bedrooms, which enable them to see themselves in the heat of the act.

Of course, using mirrors isn't for everyone. It has to be said that sex is often more awkward (or at least less glamorous) than it is made to appear in air brushed movie scenes. Not every man is a muscular Casanova, and not every woman is a nymph like starlet whose make up stays perfect no matter how acrobatic the sex act!

Couples can break free of the fixed perspective they would ordinarily have during sex by using mirrors (although creative use of different positions also provide ways around this). At the same time, it is important to be comfortable with your body image if you are planning to try a little bit of bedroom voyeurism yourself. Otherwise, you might end up spending most of the time trying to avert your eyes from an unflattering sight.

Some couples like to bring voyeurism into the bedroom in other ways. Recently, The Sun featured a man and woman who enjoy inviting other women into their bedroom. The couple reportedly find women on classified websites to join them, and the girlfriend watches her boyfriend get his kit off with mystery blondes. The woman does admit, however, that the duo's unusual 'arrangement' began after she had caught her boyfriend with another woman.

Whether you'd like to try viewing you and your significant other in a mirror while you do the deed, or you want to invite a third party for a three way tryst, it's important to be safe. If you mount a mirror to the ceiling, make doubly sure it's secure – there's nothing like being crushed by a falling object to destroy the mood. It would most likely be more sensible to prop a large landscape mirror against your headboard, or to hang a mirror on the wall opposite your bed.
