Swinging; Could It Be For You?

By Ekaterina Mironova

Recently I was reading a post online about how swinging is becoming ever more popular in the UK, and I must say that I was a little surprised by the figures that the post was quoting. According to the research carried out by writer there are around 1 million swingers in the UK and these individuals come from almost every background imaginable, from students, to single mothers, to doctors and judges. Apparently your background, age, size and shape make no difference when it comes to swinging, as the diverse swinging community attests.

A very brief internet search for swinging parties and events in my area provided me with tons of results ranging from inexpensive house parties which admit anyone and everyone with an interest in swinging, to exclusive and very expensive night clubs which only permit the young and gorgeous to attend. I do live in London where the swinging scene is a little more active and widespread than in your typical English down, however even with this in mind I must say I was completely blindsided by the results. Some off the clubs and events also only permitted couples and single women to attend; no single men and I guess I can understand why this is the case as it keeps the parties laid back, and increases trust in your follow swingers. Who would want to attend an event where a bunch of letchy single men were praying on young women…no thanks!

When asked, many swingers say that they engage in this kind of open-minded activity because it makes them feel empowered, and being a swinger does not mean that they are not satisfied with their relationship they have with their other half. Quite the contrary in fact! Many swinging couples say that they have a fantastic relationship which is full of openness, passion, love and intimacy and is boosted by their extra-marital activities.

So, I guess my question to you is; do you think you could be a swinger? Personally I'm not so sure that I could as I'd be worried about jealousy rearing its ugly head, which would turn into anger and resentment. If think to be a swinger involves a great deal of discipline and an outlook on life which most of us just do not have. What do you think?
