There is something attractive about the expression of sex in public. It can be having sex outdoors or scribing something on the wall. This article will help you determine if watching porn in public is legal or illegal. 

Watching porn is a thrilling activity for most people, although some people prefer watching porn in private so that they won’t be noticed. According to Zillmann et al. (1982), reading and watching erotica material has been said to relieve stressful thoughts. Some people are bold enough to watch it in public without batting an eyelid. However, the law is strict about the subject matter. For instance, exposing people around you to any form of pornographic material without asking for their vies is sexual harassment in western countries, and it is punishable. However, it comes with a caveat that when you view pornographic material privately, especially if you are unlikely to be discovered by people, you are likely to have been following the law. There won’t be trouble from the law enforcers. 

Being legal does not mean that the action is right to any degree. Most people are free in favor of the open manifestation of shared sexual materials. However, there are proper and improper ways to do such activities. 

Watching porn in public is not an ethical activity. It is completely out of societal values, but that can’t stop some people from exploring. The world would be a better place if sex and other related issues were embraced ordinarily like any other personality. The key point here is the worth of what you are doing in public. Is it worth it being caught in public watching porn? Is it worth the embarrassment or the awkward situation you will be in? Do not watch porn in any public place. It is best if you do such activities in private to avoid embarrassment. Also, it is against the law to watch porn in public, so you should be open to the safer side. 

There are more subverted thrills to watching porn in public. Watching porn in public can cause arousal, the thrill of secrecy, alluring, power of subversion, and intoxicating and addictive. 

However, due to some circumstances, it is within the scope of the law to watch porn in public as long as you are not affecting anyone near you. Also, if you are doing it in a way you aren't expected to be caught, it is all within the law.

These days, there is unlimited access to the internet, and many people have smartphones, laptops, or tablets to access the internet. With this gadget and a strong internet connection, people can access what they want anywhere. However, that does not mean you can browse anything anywhere you want. 

Despite moral objections other people might have against watching porn in public, it is not allowed by law. However, if you are using a personal phone, laptop, or computer or a public service computer such as in the library, you have the right to view pornography as long as you are not affecting the people around you. 

In California, protective measures have been taken across all public computer screens to keep them hidden so that you can’t offend them with what you are doing. The computers are installed with hoods, making the screen only visible to the user.

Crimes That May Arise from Watching Porn in Public

Although watching porn in public is not an illegal act, there are some instances where you can be charged with watching porn in public, especially in some strict states. For instance, in California State, according to penal code section 314, a person may be charged with indecent exposure when they masturbate in public. The crime can be corded as a misdemeanor or felony, and it is punishable by one year in jail and a thousand U.S dollars fine. If you are charged with a felony, you may end up in jail for three years and an expensive fine of ten thousand united states dollars. 

Although it is not illegal to watch porn in public for over 18 years, you may be charged with a crime if you publicly show the content to anybody underage or someone who doesn't want to see it. It depends on the circumstances under which you expose pornographic content to the public; you can be charged for molesting children under age according to penal code section 647.6 in California. Also, you might be charged with illegally showing harmful material to underage according to penal code section 288.2(a). All these crimes are heavy and come with severe punishments. Also, if you watch porn in public depicting a minor, you will be charged according to penal code section 311. Moreover, possessing child pornography is also punishable, and your punishment will differ depending on the circumstances. 

The Common Law

People engaging in public sex affairs risk falling foul of offending the common law and outraging the public’s decency. For instance, in England and Wales, it is an offense, and you will be charged with lewd behavior, disgusting or obscene behaviors. This offense has been deployed several times to criminalize inappropriate public sex content in the past few years. These public sex contents may be masturbation in a supermarket, oral sex in a public shopping center, or even in public washrooms. Section five of the public order act of 1986 deems it an offense to engage in an obscene and disgusting action within the scope of your partner's hearing or sight. What you are doing may cause sexual harassment, distress, or alarm.

Watching porn in public can be legal or illegal, depending on the state you are in. It is wise to consider other people’s opinions and privacy by watching porn in private. By doing this, you will respect other people and uphold the law in the states where watching porn in public is illegal.
