15 TYPES OF CONDOMS: BENEFITS, STYLES, AND MORE

A condom is a barrier worn over the penis to prevent unwanted pregnancies and the transmission of sexually transmitted diseases. Latex condoms, lambskin condoms, and female condoms are some examples of condoms.

Condoms are a birth control method. Condoms play a major part in safe sex, and most of them effectively protect the users against sexually transmitted diseases and infections. Condoms are readily available, and sometimes they are offered for free. There are a variety of condoms in the shops, and some come with added elements known as flavors for increased pleasure during sex. You may be confused about which is the best condom for you. Below is a guide to everything you may need to know about condoms;

Types of Condoms

A condom can be regular, internal, and dental dams. Men wear regular condoms. Internal condoms are female condoms, and they are worn inside the vagina. Internal condoms are not as effective as external condoms due to improper use and also wearing them is complicated. According to McNair (2005), dental dams are worn in the mouth to prevent the transmission of some sexually transmitted diseases such as human papillomavirus(HPV) from anal and oral sex.

Lubricated Condoms

Sometimes we buy lube to add to our condoms to make them more pleasurable. Some condoms come with lube. Lubricated condoms are important for people who understand the importance of lube. Lube prevents friction during sex.

Ribbed Condoms

A ribbed condom has ridges looking like veins. It is known as a ribbed condom because it has ribs. The ribs make the condoms more pleasurable to use because of the mild friction that they cause. According to Bowling et al. (2018), some condoms are ribbed inside and outside for the wearers and the partner’s pleasure.

Dotted Condoms

Some condoms have dots that look like bumps on the outside for added sensations. During intercourse, the wearer causes the motions while the partner enjoys the bumpy ride. Some dotted condoms have bumps all over, while others have bumps on some parts of the condom.

Warming Condoms

Warming condoms come with lubrication, and usually, the lube in warming condoms is glycerol, as Harvey (2016) showed. The lube produces a warming sensation during sex for both the wearer and the partner. They feel the warmth during sex. You stand a chance of getting a warming condom if you are a latex user.

Ultrathin Condoms

Ultrathin condoms are for the people who believe that condoms take away the sensations you should feel during sex. Some people believe condoms make sex less pleasurable. The ultrathin condom comes in handy because it is thin, and when having sex, it feels as if it is barely there. Ultrathin condoms may seem like they could break easily during sex, but the big surprise is that they're as good as ordinary condoms. The reason why condoms break is because of improper use and not because the condom is of thin material.

Extra-large Condoms

Extra-large condoms are long and stretchy. You can wear an extra-large condom on the hand up to the elbow. This condom is perfect for men who complain that the condoms available are too small for them. Brunner (2009) suggested that You could use an extra-large condom while playing with your bullet vibrator or anything you want to insert inside you and pull out. People who are not as endowed as they would need the extra-large condom should avoid this condom because wearing this condom so that it looks oversized for your member is akin to wearing a condom improperly or not wearing a condom at all. Therefore you will expose yourself to unwanted pregnancies, sexually transmitted diseases, and infection. Some people wonder how someone can get pregnant, although a couple used a condom.

Female Condom

Female condoms are specially designed for women even though men can use them. The condom is placed at the vagina's opening. The female condom is 95% effective, and the reason they aren't 100% effective is because of the female anatomy. The condoms are not easy to wear, and it takes practice to get them right.

Spermicidal Condoms

The condoms come with spermicides inside. Spermicides are meant for birth control, and they kill sperms. While a spermicide is used on its own, it is not effective, and it is bound to fail. It is as if you are using two birth control methods, and therefore spermicidal condoms are effective for birth control.

Delay Condoms

Delay condoms are for men with ejaculation issues. These men can ejaculate 2 minutes into sex. The delayed condoms numb the penis; the wearer does not feel the sensations causing him to ejaculate. Therefore, he can go on having sex longer. The condoms are laced with a numbing agent inside. The numbing agent is known as benzocaine.

Glow–In–The–Dark Condoms

Some condoms glow in the dark. They are for humorous people enjoying some laugh or fun. The condoms have a layer of colored phosphorus, and that's why it glows in the dark. Most condoms that glow in the dark are green, but other colors are available. They are the best condoms to use during those nights when you want to role-play.

Colored Condoms

Here is a condom you will like if you have sex with the usual boring opaque colored condoms. The colored condoms make the penis look more attractive and make the sex more fun. Just like balloons, you can find a condom that is not only colored but also has some printed designs.

Flavored Condoms

Flavored condoms come with a coat of flavored additives. Some flavors are nice, while some aren't. Some of the flavors you will hear of are chocolate, vanilla, or fruity.

Latex Condoms

Latex condoms are the most common condoms. Latex condoms have been famed for being 98% effective in preventing pregnancy and sexual diseases. You can add your silicon and water-based lube into your latex condom but not the oil-based lube because it will tear the condom.

Polyurethane Condoms

You have probably heard someone say they're allergic to latex and wondered if that can be real. It is real. Condoms made of polyurethane are the best alternative for people with latex allergies. The advantage that polyurethane condoms have against latex condoms, besides not causing allergic reactions, is that they are thinner than most condoms. Men like condoms made of thin materials because the condoms almost feel like skin-to-skin sex.

Lambskin Condoms

Lambskin condoms are the original condoms. Lambskin condoms are made out of the lamb's intestine skin. It puts people off, but it is still popular because it readily feels and sends the heat, making sex pleasurable. However, lambskin is porous and is ineffective as a birth control method or for protecting the user against sexually transmitted diseases.

Conclusion

The variety of condoms in the market can be overwhelming. There are condoms for everybody, sizes notwithstanding. You must know the condom that is best for you to avoid being confused at the store. Unless you have sexual problems such as premature ejaculation, you can easily pick any condom that fits because a condom's most important function is to protect us from diseases and prevent unwanted pregnancy.
