Spanking is a form of punishment for slaves, and paddling is not different from that; however, there are exciting ways to incorporate it into your playtime.  Whether you are on the receiving end or ready to dish out some spanking to your partner, you need first to discuss it with your partner. It's essential you know the basics of bondage paddling to do it successfully without any form of pain. This is why we will be discussing a beginner's guide to using bondage paddles

Communication is key

With all forms of BSDM practices, it's essential to communicate with your partner before going ahead with it.  Establish ground rules before starting. If your partner is new to it, preparation is necessary. You should freely talk about sexual preferences or desires with your partner and understand their opinion about it. If your partner is also experienced in it, you don't need so much preparation.

Always use safe words

Every BDSM practice requires a safe word. A safe word is a signal that your partner wants to stop. A safe word should be something random, something you wouldn't say on a normal day, or something that easily gets either partner's attention.

Set your budget for it.

Like every other sex toy, you must have a fixed budget before purchasing it. A budget gives you are an idea of how much you are willing to spend. You might want a wooden paddle, but your wallet can only get a plastic one. However, the goal is the sensation you get when you use it.  So, if you want something that will go deep into your muscle and turn you on, you don't need to spend a fortune on it. However, it's still best to set a budget before you go shopping for it.

Decide on the material you want.

Bondage paddles come in different materials, and we will be discussing them below:

Acrylic: These are plastic, but they are not plastic. They give an intense sting; however, sensations differ based on the paddle's flexibility, thickness, and density.

Bamboo: These are light-weight, and it can cause a lot of pain.

Fur: The exterior is made with soft and gentle material, and the interior is made with plastic. It is great for beginners.

Glass: Just as the name is made with glass, you have nothing to worry about because it won't break. However, ensure there are no weak points on the paddle.

Leather: It is a traditional material used for all BDSM toys. Most paddles are made with wood but wrapped with leather.  It is cheaper than other materials. If the paddle is made with wood, it can cause more sensations than pure leather.

Lexan:  It is a different version of acrylic. They are also more expensive than acrylic paddles. It has different levels of flexibility and density.

Rubber:  It is not suitable for beginners. It can cause a lot of pain, and you should be careful with it to avoid damage.

Silicone: It is made with smooth and soft material. It is easy to clean compared to other materials. It is also a good choice if you are carrying out role play with multiple partners.

Stainless steel: It is not suitable for beginners. They are rigid and can be very dense.

Wood: It has different density levels and different levels of shock absorption. They come in different styles that suit your preference.

Don't compromise on safety

The issue of safety cannot be overlooked when using bondage paddles. It might seem easy to use and doesn't present a lot of damage. However, if you use it the wrong way, it can cause a lot of damage. Paddling can cause injury if you do it the wrong way. The last thing you want is to take your partner to the emergency room during role play. Also, the damage can be long-term if not appropriately treated. When using bondage paddles, ensure you avoid some areas on the body that can cause harm. It includes the kidney, spinal cord, and the face. Also, practice before using it on your partner. It will ensure your partner does not get injured in the process. You will also know how to spank your partner without exerting force. Also, ensure the paddle is in good condition to avoid any injury.

Clean the paddles after use

Like other sex toys, bondage paddles require cleansing, especially after use. You should clean them according to the material they have.  If you have a wooden paddle, you can clean them with warm soapy water. You should also check for splinters before use. For leather paddles, you should wipe them down gently. Do not submerge them into water. You should always check the instructions for proper ways to clean paddles.

The Position you choose matters

Though positions aren't something you should worry about, it's also essential.  However, you can choose any position that suits your preference. You can try out several positions and use the one that appeals to you or your partner. The standard position is to place your sub over your knee. It is effective for punishment and training.  During positioning, ensure you keep a safe distance when striking your partner. Ensure the paddle does not contact delicate parts of the body, such as the spine or kidney.

Conclusion

If you are new to bondage paddles, the list above will help you on how to go about it and have fun at the same time.
