How Do Cock Rings Work?

How Do Cock Rings Work?

By Ksenia Sobchak

Cock rings have become seriously popular recently, and for good reason. Yes, you can get all sorts of cock rings these days. Ones made of rubber, ones made of silicone, ones made of metal, ones with clitoral stimulators, even ones that vibrate. But fundamentally, how do cock rings work?

Regardless of what your cock ring is made from, they all work in one simple way. You put the cock ring on when you are flaccid, and slide it down your shaft. We always recommend using plenty of lubricant. As you get harder, your shaft will naturally get more hard and thick, and the cock ring will tighten around your penis. All cock rings work in the same way. By putting your cock ring on when you are soft, it will not obstruct blood flow into your penis as you become excited (we won’t tell you how to get excited – I’m sure you know what works for you!) Once you have a full hard on, because your penis is now thicker, you will feel the cock ring become much more firm around your shaft. It is stopping the blood flowing out of your cock. This gives you a much thicker, harder penis when aroused, and will allow you to last for much longer, as the blood cannot escape.

Now we must stress, as pleasing as a stonking, bulging hard on is for you and your other half, do not take this too far. You want to aim for enough constriction to keep you going for longer, not to stop all blood flow to and from your cock. Many men have taken things too far and have ended up injuring themselves by using cock rings that were either too small, or made from rigid materials, such as metal, that they didn’t have previous experience using. You put a cock ring on when you are flaccid, so you need to judge how thick you will get when fully erect. This can cause problems for anyone who is not used to using cock rings, as it is easy to misjudge the diameter. A cock ring that slides on perfectly when flaccid may actually constrict far too much when you are sporting a massive hard on. For this reason, if you’ve never used cock rings before, stay away from metal cock rings for now. Instead, opt for soft, stretchy materials, such as rubber or silicone, which have a lot of give.

A great starter kit of cock rings to try is the Manbound Rubber Cock Ring Set (3 Pack), a trio of stretchy rubber rings, with diameters of 1.5, 1.75 and 2 inches – perfect for working out how firm your little man would like. We recommend starting with the 2 inch diameter one, and then getting tighter and firmer as you gain confidence. What’s great about these cock rings are that they are inexpensive, so you and your partner can see whether cock rings are something you would love, without spending a fortune, and, as there are 3 different sized rings, you can even use more than one for extra constriction and longer lasting erections.

If you, or your partner are allergic to latex, then a great alternative is the Spartacus Skin Safe Nitrile Cock Ring Set, a trio of cock rings made from nitrile, a skin-safe rubber, with no latex. Diameters of the cock rings are 1.25, 1.5, and 2 inches. Remember, we want you to be the hardest you’ve ever been, and last the longest you’ve ever lasted (as I’m sure your partner will agree). But play safe. Start with the biggest diameter first, and then work your way down to the smallest ring – your Johnson will thank you for it!
