So, you’ve kitted yourself out with exercise-friendly clothing and paid for your gym membership…now what? You visit the gym a handful of times for 2 to 3 weeks before your attendance (and interest!) starts to wane. What if you could couple getting into shape with something you actually enjoy, like sex? Well good new, you can!

According to studies into the calorie burning value of a good session in the bedroom sex can burn around 150-250 calories every half an hour, depending on the intensity of your love making. Not only will your body benefit from being flooded with pain killing and ‘happy-making’ chemicals, your overall physical health will improve! Of course I am not suggesting that sex should be the only exercise you do (walking the dog, swimming, and yoga are all fun ways to get into shape!), but if you do want to get fat-busting benefits from your love making then there are a few positions you could try.

The Strictly Ballroom:

The strictly ballroom is so simple and really does give the man a proper workout as he must hold her entire weigh and bounce her up and down. Basically the men must pick the woman up so that they are nose to nose, she must then wrap her legs around his waist as he enters her. Simple!

The Wheelbarrow:

Successfully executing the wheelbarrow is going to burn serious calories as it takes a great deal of strength from the man and the woman. Just as you did when you played the childhood game the woman places her palms flat on the ground while the man enters her from behind and wraps her legs around his waist, holding her by the front of the thighs. This is a bit tricky to get right, but is well worth the effort!

The Cow Girl:

This one is an oldie but a goodie! The cow girl is a favourite of both men and women as he gets an amazing view of his partner’s banging bod while she can control the depth of penetration. The cow girl is also killer for her thighs if he stays mostly still and resists the urge to thrust up too much. If the bumping and grinding is all her responsibility then she will have to use those thighs to lift herself up and lower herself down. The man may not get much (calorie-related) benefits from this, but she sure will!
