How to Wax Play - Safe Waxplay Tips
This article is about the fun uses of wax. Me and my other half tried this especially for this article, having never done it before. We can safely say we are now hooked. It adds a nice extra to BDSM scenes and can be quite fun in just general foreplay, at least for us.
First things first is safety. Wax is hot, wax can burn, wax can cause serious damage and scarring. Make sure you know what you are doing, you have the right type of candles, and a safe word. Even if it is not used in a BDSM scene a safe word is a good idea. It will hurt and if it hurts too much, stop. It is supposed to be enjoyable, not torture, at least, not usually torture.
So type of wax, lets start with those not to use. Beeswax, avoid. These candles burn very hot and can cause burns and scarring. The same goes for those made from animal fat, these candles burn at a very high temperature and probably will cause burning. If you want to use these make sure you do not mind being burnt and bearing the marks for the rest of your life. It is also best to avoid anything with additions. Any metallic candles are usually poisonous, those with flowers in them can catch light, and any scent added increases the temperature at which they burn. Last but not least is colour. The colour of the candle also effects how hot they burn, aim for black or white which burn cooler than others.
So what can you use? Well two types. Paraffin candles are the best, they burn at the coolest temperatures, drip very well, and while still causing the slight burning sensation, do not actually burn you. It also dries well so you can have fun peeling it off afterwards. If you cannot find pure paraffin then aim for candles that are made to drip. You can get these in a few art shops as well as online, you can also find the in religious stores which can be quite ironic. While these burn hotter than pure paraffin they still will not burn you.
So how to do it. It is messy, make sure you are on a plastic sheet or something you don’t mind having wax on. Next have a bucket of water with you. You are playing with fire, and a person is involved. Make sure it is between cool and luke warm. If it is to be used on a person cold water acts as a shock to the system and can actually make burns worse. Know what you are going to do, start to finish, no making it up as you go along.
So where to do it, well, anything neck down really. Breasts or vagina for women, penis and bollocks for men. It is common to coat the person from the neck down and slowly peel it off. I can say this is quite fun, but make sure you are nicely shaved before hand, both men and women. Another is coat the body and cut holes in it, letting the air cool the now tender parts of the body, you can even introduce ice or cold water for more stimulation. In BDSM scenes it can be common to use a whip to remove the wax, not stopping until it is all gone, no matter where the wax is. Make sure you are fine with breast and vaginal or penis whipping before going ahead with this though.
So, I hope I have helped give some advice on the art of wax play. Have fun but play safe. I am sure some of you can add more to this, or have stories of your own, so tell us about them.
