What To Pack For A One-Night-Stand

What To Pack For A One-Night-Stand

By Ekaterina Mironova

A random hookup can do wonders for the ego and the libido, and with the proper precautions and mind set it's neither slutty nor risky. That being said, the whole point of a no-strings, limited-offer deal is that it's pleasurable. More specifically, more pleasurable than awkward and let's face it, there are few things more awkward than early morning walks of shame. A successful hookup involves a certain amount of abandon sure, but also a certain amount of planning. So ladies, with that in mind here's a few tips on what your handbag should include if you're anticipating going back to someone else's place tonight.

Before you even start packing it, make sure your handbag is appropriately sized. A tiny, glorified purse with little more than your ID, credit card and house key is a choice you'll regret when it's 7 am, you look like a wreck and you're catching a cab home. On the flip side, you can't pack anything resembling a travel bag, with enough room in its cavernous depths to house a tent and a week's worth of supplies. You might be prepared, but you'll be burdened and your planned man mate for the evening is likely to think you're a bit crazy. Something medium sized and trendy is best; big enough to accommodate spare knickers and a few essentials but nothing more.

Now about those essentials" There's the obvious stuff like your makeup medi-kit, with just enough prettifying items to help you touch up the morning after. Lip balm and a bit of concealer is what we're talking about here. You'll inevitably be a bit of a mess after your one night stand, but you can at least be a hot mess. While we're on the topic of freshening up, a toothbrush is definitely a good idea - unless you're keen on using his. More often than not, your evening of debauchery will be rounded out by a morning trip to a nearby coffee shop and you don't want to rock up reeking of vodka. Also if you happen to be semi-blind like me, make sure you take your contact solution and glasses along with you. They're small enough to find a place for, and you definitely don't want to find yourself in an unfamiliar area without them. A walk of shame is one thing, but a stumbling, short-sighted one is another entirely.

Another very good idea when it comes to packing in anticipation of your hookup is to include a spare shirt and a pair of flats. Really, try and find some space for them. Whilst those perilous high heels and that top which shows off your cleavage to maximum advantage will definitely get you where you want to go, they're not what you want to be wearing the morning after. Their shameful inappropriateness aside, who wants to walk home in heels?

Believe it or not I'd hesitate to add protection to the list of must-packs. Why you ask? Well, the guy has got to do his share in making this hookup work, and any man who goes out looking for casual sex without a condom is not someone you want to be going home with.

There you have it ladies, your one night stand basic survival kit. Of course, these things rarely go according to plan, with the perfect man inevitably appearing when you're sans survival kit, but it doesn't hurt to keep such a bag at the ready in your trunk now does it?
