Two Piece Swimwear - More Than Just Bikinis

By Tatyana Dyachenko

When two piece swimwear became popular, beaches filled with bikinis. Then, the bikini transformed into a string bikini and styles became more and more revealing. These days, however, two piece swimwear is more than just a bikini and you can get more or less coverage, depending on what you want in a swimsuit.

Brands like Nike have offered a sporty look to two piece swimwear. Short shorts in a boy cut and a top that resembles a sports bra is a cute alternative to the traditional bikini. You have the support and coverage of the bust line and all the style Nike sportswear has to offer.

If you're hoping to buy a designer look in two piece swimwear, check out the Sessa brand, too. It offers styles a little less sports-oriented than Nike with a lot of options for plus size women, too.

More Choices - Swimwear Tops And Bottoms

There are so many choices in the world of swimwear these days. There's the tankini. It's got the upper body coverage of a one piece yet the style of two. A little belly generally shows between the tank and the bottoms, but if you shop around you can find a full coverage tankini. You may buy them as a set or buy them as separates so you can mix and match tops and bottoms for a variety of different looks.

Suits with attached skirts are another option. The top is more like a traditional bikini, but the bottom is a skirt, offering coverage of the thigh area for women who might be a little self conscious about their bottoms. Again, buying separates give you the options of piecing together your own look, but sets are also available.

Both tankinis and skirtinis are good options for plus size women who don't want a one-piece suit. If you're a little self conscious about a bulging belly, pick the tankini. You can even find the tank part with support to help control your extra flab. As mentioned, suits with attached skirts are good for hiding problem areas in the behind or upper leg area. If you get a skirted suit with bottoms that are full coverage and high waisted, it, too, could help conceal a little belly fat. Look for support or control features in the skirtini, too. It never hurts to have a little additional help when you're trying to mask flaws!

When picking out your tankini, skirtini, or bikini, take advantage of the separate pieces for style and convenience. If you buy a blue and purple printed tank, consider buying both blue and purple bottoms. Then, you can rewear the top another day with the new bottoms. In addition to giving you the versatility of multiple suits, you'll also have the convenience of less swim suit washing. Another advantage to buying separates is that you can find the right size for the right area.If your top is a size 12 and your bottom is a size 16, there is no problem in finding the right fit!

If you are buying separates and shopping in a discount store, make sure you buy tops and bottoms from the same brand. Otherwise, you might end up with color discrepancies. Green to one manufacturer is seldom the very same color green from another one.

Have fun looking at all the options in two piece swimwear. You're sure to find a lot to choose from, whether shopping designer racks or discount store aisles. Even if you have never been comfortable in a bikini before, you should be able to find an option you can be comfortable with in two piece swimwear.
