The Strange Rules Of Attraction

The Strange Rules Of Attraction

Primarily, who are we attracted to? The roots of gender attraction have been a hard nut to crack, even for renowned scientists like Charles Darwin. Studies have shown that humans may not consciously realize who they attract or are attracted in the past few years. Further studies have revealed that straight men are primed to tell who they are attracted to, but that is not true for lesbians and straight women. In this post, we shall explore the fascinating rules of attraction.

Researchers have pointed out that women's sexuality is more fluid than men's because they have more incentives to choose from. In contrast, men often have to choose and stick to their choices concerning who they are attracted to. Here are the strange rules of attraction and theories put forward by scientists explaining the concept of gender attraction.

Charles Darwin’s Theory of Sexual Attraction

According to this theory, gender attraction is a two-act scene where females have more incentive to choose who they want than males. On the other hand, males have to lavish displays, compete against each other, and show what they can offer to warrant being chosen over their peers.

In his argument, Darwin says the concept of female choice is born out of the basic knowledge that women invest more in offspring rearing than males. For that reason, it is warranted to be given more incentive in selecting their sex partners. While many scientists oppose Darwin's theory, some have picked it and made it a foundation for many sexuality studies. Some biologists opposed to this theory say it is obscure and have suggested that if the concept of female choice is to be emphasized, then males with what could be termed as unfavorable traits would be disadvantaged.

No One Knows What Women Want

As much as it may sound controversial, many researchers on gender attraction think women's sexuality is more flexible and fluid than men's. That is not to say that all women are inherently bisexual, but their sexual attraction, they believe, is likely to shift faster than for males. Females whose male partners are negligent, and don't invest more in offspring rearing, are likely to form beneficial partnerships with other females.

Some scientists have used Darwin’s theory of sexual selection to explain why there is a perpetual shift in what women want. Researchers say that the critical time to access what a woman wants is during ovulation. During this time, women become horny, with a noticeable shift in mating preferences. Scientists say that women experience a heightened sense of fascination for males with good genes; muscular, socially dominant, and handsome. It is no coincidence that it is during ovulation that females are more likely to get pregnant.

Who You Are Attracted to is an Individual Matter

Some psychologists believe that the subject of attraction falls on the individual lap at the end of the day, and no one can tell for sure who they are attracted to or who attracts who. Science cannot be discredited entirely because it can explain why some romantic partnerships exist, but who we choose is a matter of individual taste, persuasions, and preferences. Everyone's love interest is unique, and our mental love maps determine who everyone gravitates towards.

Regarding love maps, researchers say every aspect varies from person to person. That is why one may consider big breasts or a nice suit a turn-on, while others may have a soft spot for light complexion and big ass.

We are Unconsciously Attracted to Ourselves and Those Who Resemble Us

Do you consider yourself an attractive proposition? You will be shocked to learn that sexually, you fancy yourself first, and potential lovers who resemble you are more likely to please you. Everyone thinks of themselves as appealing, and it is no surprise that you will find yourself attracted to people who look more or less like you.

Studies have shown that we unconsciously find those who resemble us as attractive. That means we are likely to go on a date with potential love interests who bear a striking resemblance to us.

Researchers linked this phenomenon to self-love. Being unconsciously attracted to someone bearing a striking resemblance to you is an indicator of self-love.  Studies have suggested that women's attraction often shifts due to hormones and menstruation. Besides, females tend to change attitudes towards their male partners during their periods, not to mention that ovulating women find masculine males more attractive. In contrast, women regain interest in their primary sex partnerships when cycles are behind them.

Women Have Super Skills to Access Masculinity

From evolutionary psychology, evidence shows that women prefer good-looking and masculine males as their viable partners. Women may hold masculinity as evidence of virility in males, but most find flaws in such evidence, which is why that no longer holds any truth today. Contrary to women's preferences, having more manly features does not stand as an undisputed indicator of masculinity.

Humans Fall in Love at “First Smell”

Everyone has a distinct smell unique to their pheromones, a scented secretion mixed with body fluids such as sweat. Someone's smell is superficial to falling in love with another, but this is far from true. Pheromones play a key role in attraction in animals, but not humans, but it turns out that they do.

Pheromones consist of chemicals that play a part in sexual attraction, and it is no surprise that someone will fall in love with the way a potential love interest smells. And humans have all these chemicals that help communicate and bond in a love relationship. This is often a subconscious occurrence that escapes notice.
