1) Asparagus:
Asparagus is packed with good things including folic acid, fibre, vitamin A, C & B6 and potassium which boost the immune system, and in the case of folic acid boosts histamine levels which are said to help both men and women reach orgasm. In 19th century France bridegrooms were served three courses of asparagus for their prenuptial dinner to ensure that their wedding night went off without a hitch! Asparagus spears are extremely easy to cook; simply boil them for 3-5 minutes depending on the thickness of the spears. Serve them drizzled in olive oil and a sprinkle of sea salt or with hollandaise sauce.
2) Figs:
The inside of a fig is believe to look like the female sexual organs….although personally I think that if your downstairs looks like that you need to see a doctor pronto! All of this aside there is no denying that biting into a sweet and succulent fig is a pleasure in itself. The ancient Greeks considered the fig to be sacred and associated it with love and fertility. They even employed its powers during frenzied orgies and rituals. Figs do not require any preparation; simply wash and enjoy.
3) Chocolate:
Chocolate is packed with feel good chemicals such as anandamide and phenylethylamine which release dopamine into the pleasure centres of the brain. No wonder it’s so addictive! The effects of chocolate are partly sedative in nature and may lead to lowered inhibitions, and partly stimulating which can increase the need for physical contact. The best way to feel the full sexy effects of chocolate is to buy it in its purest form, so go for 70% or above.
4) Oysters
One famous TV chef once said that eating an oyster is like making love to a mermaid! Perhaps the most famous of aphrodisiacs oysters contain large quantities of zinc which helps with the production of sperm and increases the libido by cranking up testosterone levels. The best way to eat oysters is raw with a glass of Champagne, candles and your lover. Now you can’t get more sexy than that!
5) Avocados:
Aside from being packed with immune system boosting folic acid, vitamin B6 and potassium, the avocado tree was referred to as ahuacuatl by the Aztecs which translates to ‘testicle tree’ due to the overtly testicle-like shape of the fruit and the fact that they hang in pairs. Avocadoes are also packed with Vitamin E which helps your body to produce hormones such as testosterone, oestrogen and progesterone which stimulate sexual responses! The best way to eat avocadoes isto half, de-stone and fill with prawns in seafood sauce (mayo + a bit of tomato sauce). Yummy!
