THREE THINGS YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW ABOUT SEXUAL ATTRACTION

Sexual attraction is the ability of a person to attract someone sexually. It is more like a magnetic attraction. Herein is what entails sexual attraction, including; weird facts about sexual attraction, being horny makes gross stuff sexy, and you are attracted to your parents.

Issues with sex are confusing, and no one has a good grip on human sexuality. When you disintegrate sexuality,  no aspect makes sense. However,  some people find themselves captivated by the world of human sexuality, and sometimes they may become entangled in it. There is no harm in understanding sexuality on a deeper level, but it is best to know that the outcome is not always fun. Below are some unsettling but intriguing facts about sexuality.

Weird Facts About Sexual Attraction

According to Anderson et al. (2001), attraction refers to the ability to evoke feelings of desire or interest in someone. A lot builds attraction, including a ton of potencies and variations. Attraction is divided into different categories, namely;

  • Emotional attraction
  • Aesthetic attraction
  • Intellectual attraction
  • Sensual/physical attraction

Below are some facts about sexual attraction.

Being Horny Makes Gross Stuff Sexy

According to Bradley et al. (2009), your reaction to gross things is average when you are sexually aroused. This phenomenon is scientifically proven, with scientists saying it is normal. Sex and disgust are correlated but on a paradoxical level. The stimuli your bodies go through when you are aroused are strong, blocking out feelings of disgust. Normally, sweat, semen, saliva, and body odors would have no place in things you expect to encounter. However, during sex, they come into play, but your brains can put up with it. Sex weakens particular stimuli that react to gross situations. That is why we can swallow semen and stomach the body odor that comes with sweat during sex. In a study, men were given erotic images to view, after which they were to rate things they found disgusting. Almost all recorded little to no reaction towards disgusting things. Some people may experience increased sensations of things like the smell of condoms or thick liquids, especially when they are sexually aroused. It is not always that their minds react positively to such scents. These smells may become intense when they are not aroused, which is normal.

We May Find Red Sexy

Colors hold more power than the world lets you on. Red is associated with survival instincts and prosperity. Zeki (2007) noted that other people associate red with attractiveness, passion, and desire. Red can be found in almost everything, from lipsticks to cars. People who adorn red, be it a pair of pants, a skirt, shirt, or top, are viewed as attractive by the opposite sex. Red boosts physical attractiveness, and most of the time, people may choose to wear red clothing to show their sexual availability. People are judged based on the color they adorn. Therefore, red is connected to the subconscious. Some people wonder why red is the only color that exudes sexual feelings. It may be due to the evolution history, gradual change that takes place over a long time. Women may find red appealing to men because it speaks of dominance, while men's fetish for women in red may be due to primal biological reasons. Our primal instincts can be likened to that of female chimps and baboons whose chests turn red when they are fertile, which is a way of attracting males for procreation.

You Are Attracted To Your Parents

Fred’s Oedipus complex theory suggests that your mind is subconsciously attracted to parents of the opposite sex. Despite this fact being scientifically proven, most people disagree with it. People are sexually inclined to have partners who resemble their parents in hair, eye color, and vocal profile. Therefore, parents' physical appearance greatly influences people's choice of partners. As much as this phenomenon sounds absurd, it is not as weird as it sounds. Fraley and Marks conducted a study to prove the truth: the subconsciously exposed students to photos of their opposite-sex parents and other parents. They also measured their response to facial photographs in a college yearbook. They concluded that students got sexually attracted to photographs of their parents compared to those of someone else's parent.

Other research studies show that women who had a solid with their parents after puberty were more likely to be attracted to partners with the same eye color. The same is true for women who did not spend their early years with their parents; they would prefer a partner who had a different shade of eyes from their parents. There is yet a biological explanation for this phenomenon. However, if you are attracted to people who resemble your parents, the chances of you developing a crush on distant relatives are high. Besides the physical aspect, some traits may draw us to people who resemble their folks regarding education level, core values, lifestyle, and the social environment. People may feel drawn to people bearing these characteristics because we copy the same traits from our parents, and it is logical to find someone sharing the same habits as you attractive. The single most determining factor in choosing friends is proximity. You may build friendships with neighbors, dorm mates, or even colleagues. Proximity waters familiarity, so being attracted to people who bear the same qualities as your parents are normal.

The Bottom Line

Sexual attraction is a lot to behold, but it is the desire to make sexual contact with someone of the opposite or same gender. Most people start to experience sexual attraction when they turn 12, the standard age that marks puberty or earlier on. Although the reason why people develop sexual attraction has never been identified, neurologists state that we may find someone else attractive due to past or personal experiences. Factors that breed sexual attraction include biological, psychological, and other reasons like location and family relationships. Some people are sexually attracted to colors such as red. This phenomenon is real because red is associated with sex occasionally. ASexual attraction to parents is gross, but people do it compare to someone else's parents.
